The BSA Youth Development through Sport (YDF) team will today 15/2/10 leave for Solwezi and later to Ndola to conduct partnership meetings and football league workshops with community leaders aimed at introducing the new and exciting YDF program which was launched in Zambia in late 2009. The program rollout will target young people between 12 and 15 years.

Breakthrough Sports Academy (BSA) and  Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) have partnered to implement a Youth Development through Football (YDF) project whose main aim  is to utilise the power of football to empower youth and improve their life skills. The project has lined up water and sanitation activities in Ndola and Solwezi.

The main objective of the Health and Hygiene programme is to reduce the incidence death from water-borne diseases by raising awareness in appropriate health, hygiene and sanitation through football. This is envisaged to encourage a positive change in peoples` practices and attitudes that increase their vulnerability to water-borne diseases. BSA has formed six football teams comprising children aged between 10 and 12 years within each of the towns of the Sanitation Project.

At BSA we are excited to engage young Zambians in life saving activities through football. We are also excited to see one of the best young and positive Zambia national football team player, William Njobvu being involved in community work. William has been a great supporter of BSA through the BSA facebook page. We look forward to maximising the power of football to bring positive change to our communities.
