Rune Kalland in a hat

Although most children started school late in the new year. They remained greatful and excited about being in school again. Rune Kalland, a BSA board member based in Norway helped to raise $2,600 in Norway through his family and friends who are determined to support boys and girls who need support to stay in school and get the education they need to survive in future.

Rune has always been passionate about supporting less advantaged children living in townships. Last year, he managed to raise money to send 17 children back to school. Results at the end of 2009 were impressive for most of the children. In August 2009, a meeting was arranged to get feedback from all the sponsored children. All of them were happy to be back in school and schools reported high class attendance, improved classwork and termly results compared to 2008 when most children spent less time in school due to lack of funds which meant that they had to miss a lot of classes.

As BSA, we are very proud of Rune and the kids achievements in school. We also want to thank sponsors from the UK who have helped to send 4 children back to school.
